Excellent item but flawed in assembly
My wife had hip replacement surgery and needs the support of hand rails to get up from a sitting position. The Stand Alone Safety Rail is an excellent solution for use at the toilet. It is very stable and since it is not attached to the toilet it can be moved and used anywhere with a chair without arms to provide easy sitting and rising. We are considering getting another, so one can remain at the toilet and the other used with a straight chair in other rooms such as at the dining table.
Despite my hearty endorsement above, there is a VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH ASSEMBLY in that the special type nuts used to fasten it together are not tapped properly and the thumbscrews could not be tightened on more than half of them. Fortunately I have a Metric tap and die set and was able to correct the problem, but there are going to be a lot of unhappy buyers who don't have a 6mm metric tap if all of the units are like mine.

the screws the thing
The product arrived in perfect condition, a box within a box. The only picture of the assembled product is on the inner box and I suggest you cut this out for on-going reference in assembly. All screws washers and nuts are exactly supplied, there are none extra, so please do not lose any you will need them all, in the manner required.
I am not too good at assembling things, but this went pretty well for me. I needed a phillips head screw driver, and pliers. I used the pliers to hold the nut firmly, while firmly screwing in the head of the screw. There must be no play in the screw assembly, so I made sure to screw it tightly. I suppose this could just as well have been done with a wrench to hold the nut, and a drill with a phillips head bit, but I do not own these. Besides the gripper toothed pliers made it easy to hold the nut as it was winding very close to the finish. This product will not hold/ and will wobble badly if the screws are not put in tightly. Functional-sturdy - not for elongated toilets
Purchased this prior to knee surgery. While it does have the advantage of being removable - which is great in our tiny bathroom, it has 2 draw backs: 1) it is not intended for an elongated toilet, and hence doesn't slide back as far as it should on the Kohler toilet model that we have; 2) it does not have rubberized feet on the bottom, and hence the metal skids a bit on our bathroom tile giving it a bit of an unsteady feel. Otherwise seems well built, sturdy, reasonably easy to assemble [might be tough if you had arthritic hands as some of the thumb screws were a bit stiff].
